Economic Development Initiatives To Be Officially Presented At Meeting

Last fall, the Cumberland Mayor and City Council endorsed a list of five economic development initiatives outlined by Kathy Getty, chairwoman of the city’s Economic Development Commission. Those initiatives include: positioning and marketing Cumberland as a site for rural-sourcing; expanding the role of post-secondary education institutions and facilities in the city; to develop, attract, strengthen and retain regional business; to position downtown Cumberland as the premier entertainment, cultural and corporate hub of the primary and secondary market; and to target the Willowbrook Road corridor for continued health care business development.
