Economic Growth Theme of MACo Conference

August 14th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

Each year, county elected officials, senators, delegates, and other representatives of Maryland’s 23 counties and Baltimore City gather in Ocean City for the Maryland Association of Counties (MACo) Summer Conference. Allegany County  government officials make attending the MACo Summer Conference a priority, saying they gain knowledge and understanding of the most important issues facing local governments.  The 2013 MACo Summer Conference takes place today through Saturday, and the theme of the conference is “Bringing it All Back Home,” focusing on tourism as an economic driver, ways to plan for and encourage economic growth and how cooperation among different levels of government and the private sector can result in bringing new business to Maryland. Commissioner Bill Valentine tells WCBC News that he is glad to see tourism and its relationship to economic development the theme this year- as it is something Allegany County has been pushing for several years.
