The Allegany County Commissioners have received a staff recommendation to include a new Allegany High School on its capital projects priority list- however that plan calls for funding to begin in 2015. The Board of Education would like the project to begin sooner rather than later, and one argument being made is that a new school can go a long way as a tool for economic development opportunities. No surprise that a bunch of unionized government workers want more spent on their domain. The quality of education in the US has declined in the last 40 years as assessed by objective measurements compared to the rest of the world. Notice that the newest primary care office to open in the area has a foreign Doctor and an obese local as the nurse. Schools should be for educating the children, not providing jobs to useless staff and sports entertainment for the local oldsters.
