The Maryland Department of Education has been working across the state to gain acceptance of the Common Core standards. The department has been successful in getting support from the state parent teacher association. President Ray Leone spoke last wekk at an informational meeting for Allegany and Garrett County residents. Leone told the crowd that the challenge is to take Maryland from the best system in the state to the best system in the world.
