Education Finding Main Concern in General Assembly

January 10th, 2012 by WCBC Radio

For western Maryland  legislators, the upcoming General Assembly session will once again center on getting colleagues on board with the idea of the dire need for education funding in the state’s most economically distressed region. District One delegation members have proven adept at getting most local bills approved in some manner- however prying dollars for education is proving more of a challenge each year- and more recently its not about getting more- but rather its about staving off additional cuts.  State Senator George Edwards said this month that  in addition to bringing home money for capital projects, the delegations focus will be toward securing money for education- although he recognizes that might be a losing battle.
