For several years now, lawmakers from Garrett County to the eastern shore have accused the O’Malley administration of waging a war on rural Maryland – and although it’s the final year of O’Malley’s term, the trend seems likely to continue. Despite protests from most of the state’s smaller county’s- the governor's initiatives and policies continue what appears to be a case of neglect in favor of the larger more affluent counties. State Senator George Edwards, a western Maryland republican, tells WCBC News that he doesn’t believe the divide is as great as it is being presented- but its clear that rural counties are not the top priority in Annapolis.
