Edwards Comments on ‘War on Rural Maryland’

January 9th, 2014 by WCBC Radio

For several years now, lawmakers from Garrett County to the eastern shore have accused the O’Malley administration of waging a war on rural Maryland – and although it’s the final year of O’Malley’s term, the trend seems likely to continue. Despite protests from most of the state’s smaller county’s- the governor's initiatives and policies continue what appears to be a case of neglect in favor of the larger more affluent counties. State Senator George Edwards, a western Maryland republican, tells WCBC News  that he doesn’t believe the divide is as great as it is being presented- but its clear that rural counties are not the top priority in Annapolis.
