Efforts Continue on New Allegany High School

Efforts to create a more feasible funding package for the proposed new Allegany High School continue- and although nothing is close to being finalized, the goal remains to have a school completed by the summer of 2018.  The Board of Education voted last month to rescind the original deal with the state- in order to secure more favorable numbers. The new state terms would raise the state's contribution to the project by $10 million, to $36 million. The county has pledged $13.7 million, bringing the total available for the project to $49.7 million. Dr. David Lever, executive director of the Interagency Committee on School Construction,  tells WCBC News that the project should be re-bid next month, and when those bids are received- a final funding package can be developed…
