The annual business meeting and election of officers of the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce was held Thursday afternoon at the Cumberland Country Club with Barbara Beebe officially assuming the post as chairman of the board for the next year- replacing Mark Widmyer who has served in that role for the past 18 months. Stacey Bingaman now will serve as First Vice Chair and Jim Krieger as Second Vice Chair. In his annual year end remarks, the Chamber’s Executive Director Stu Czapski outlined some goals for the coming year. Topping the list: seeing the chamber take public with positions on key issues impacting the community. Czapski said he feels the Chamber has been unfairly criticized and has been perceived as avoiding controversial issues.
