Elimination Of Positions In County Government Announced

The Allegany County commissioners made it official Tuesday, announcing that they have decided to eliminate the county clerk position effective July 1. According to a news release, the decision was made as part of a plan to eliminate 10 positions to save about $475,000 in the upcoming fiscal 2013 budget. The plan includes consolidating two management positions into one in the Roads Division, reductions in Public Works and the Division of Public Safety, and keeping positions vacant in Emergency Services, Finance, Planning and Public Works.
