As Allegany County and the city of Cumberland begin talks of streamlining operations to create a more efficient delivery of government services- Emergency Management remains as the top of the list of priorities. Allegany County Finance Director Jason Bennett said this week that EMS is a rapidly growing cost to the county- pointing out that for years there was near zero expense- and last year that skyrocketed to $2.8 million. The county was forced to take over the struggling Frostburg EMS operation in 2017- and many of the counties’s other 26 volunteer fire companies are struggling as well…
