EMS Volunteer Numbers Down

Volunteers numbers are down while calls for service are increasing: it is a combination that is leading to some difficulties for local emergency service providers and one possible solution could involve a new tax.  They are issues that literally could be a matter of life and death. During the regular meeting of the Allegany County Commissioners, Robbie May, a member of the EMS subcommittee of the Allegany County Emergency Services Board, made a plea for the county to provide additional funding for local ambulances services. May said that while it might not be a popular political decision for the commissioners to pursue- creating a new revenue stream designated for emergency services may help solve the problem…

    The taxpayers of Cumberland must keep a careful eye on the county we pay our taxes for our Ambulance Service we will not pay taxes on ambulances for the rest of the county our city fireman already are forced to cover areas outside the city with no repayment from the county
