Although Allegany County School Superintendent Dr. David Cox has given no indication that he plans to step down from his position- some members of the board of education apparently have discussed that possible scenario. Board President Robert Farrell, appearing on WCBC’s “Dave Norman Show” Thursday, acknowledged that the idea of Cox not completing the final two years of his contract- and the process that would be used to replace him- is a conversation he has had with other members of the board. With Farrell in the midst of a lawsuit against Cox; and embattled board member Wayne Foote on record as saying he thinks new leadership is needed- rumors have circulated for several months that a change is being contemplated. Among the names said to be on the short list that some board members might entertain as a replacement: former superintendent William Aumiller; former Westmar Middle School Principal Toby Erich; and former Fort Hill Principal Steve Lewis. Seriously….Steve Lewis wasn’t competent enough to be allowed to finish his tenure as principal and the board declined to nenes the contract of William AuMiller. Is the criteria to be superintendent of the public school system educational excellence and a vision for the future or being one of Bob Farrell’s old boy cronies?

It shows the level of animosity the alliance holds when they openly talks about the superintendent like he’s a piece of furniture.
