On Friday, February 1st, 2019 at approximately 12:15p.m. , Allegany County Sheriffs Deputies responded to the area of National Highway at Red Hill Road, LaVale, MD for reported motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival Deputies found two vehicles along the westbound shoulder. Two passengers were transported to the Western Maryland Health System for treatment.
One of the subjects was subsequently pronounced deceased as a result of the injuries sustained during the collision. The second subject was treated and later released. At this time the identities of the parties involved are being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
The incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office. Weather is suspected to have been a factor in the collision. Any witnesses are requested to contact the Sheriff's Office at 301-777-5959.
