Fayette Street house fire

Cumberland firefighters work to control a fire in a house at 696 Fayette St. Friday afternoon. The fire was discovered in the basement of the residence where three juveniles had been located. All three of the juveniles, along with three other occupants of the house were able to escape. One of the kids was later treated for smoke inhalation. One of the family's pet dogs was killed in the fire. The American Red Cross is currently assisting the family. The fire was determined to be the result of a 17 year old juvenile playing with fire in the basement. The investigation into the fire is still continuining. An estimated total of $30,000 in damage to the structure and contents. The owner/occupants identified as Justin & Eileen Crabtree
