WBAL reports federal workers might not get a paycheck today as the partial government shutdown continues. Maryland is home to many federal agencies, and more than 23,000 jobs are affected by the shutdown in the state. Many of those employees are feeling uncertain about their futures and how they will make ends meet with no money coming in. Furloughed workers who want to make a claim for unemployment insurance can call 800-827-4839 or go here: Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation's Division of Unemployment Insurance. Organizers of an "End the Shutdown" rally said employees at Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport are being forced to work without pay. About 420,000 federal employees whose work is declared essential are reporting to work, and some of those employees work for the Transportation Security Administration. Organizers of a rally Thursday night said enough is enough. About 10,000 air-traffic controllers and about 51,000 TSA officers have been told to keep reporting to work because they are deemed essential. Those employees work at airport checkpoints, control towers and Federal Aviation Administration radar stations
