Filing deadline in Mineral County is Saturday

Candidate filing for the 2020 election officially started in Mineral County on Jan. 13 and the deadline is Saturday. Lauren Ellifritz, county clerk, says those seeking to run for county positions must file candidacy papers with the Mineral County Clerk’s Office with the corresponding filing fee. Offices up for this election cycle include magistrates, county prosecuting attorney, county commissioner for District 1, assessor, sheriff, board of education members and conservation district supervisor.  The last day to file is Jan. 25. The Mineral County Clerk’s Office will be open that day from 9 a.m. to noon. The primary election will be May 12.
