Filling Kauffman’s Council Seat Will Be Fast Track

January 4th, 2016 by WCBC Radio

As of January 1st, there is now an official vacancy on the Cumberland City Council as David Kauffman submitted his resignation. Kauffman announced in October that he had taken a job out of town and would resign his council seat at the start of the new year. Initially, there were seven candidates having submitted letters of interest by the deadline, however since then one of those has withdrawn leaving a total of six who will be considered. The process is on the fast track, with Mayor Brian Grim confirming to WCBC News that the remaining candidates will make public presentations in the coming days, followed by interviews with the mayor and council. The appointment will be announced a short time later.
