With temperatures plunging below freezing and wind chills in single digits this week, the incentive is there to turn to space heaters. And that's fine, if users know what they are doing. If not, there could be tragic results. Although the investigations into the recent rash of fires in the area are not yet complete, they have all occurred since temperatures dropped into the single digits in the past week. Maryland State Fire Marshal's spokesman Bruce Bouch said that keeping a three foot area between heating devices and combustibles is a safety priority.
