This coming Wednesday is the first day of the new school year for teachers and instructional assistants for Allegany County Public Schools- with students set to return the following Wednesday, August 28th. That first day, as is the case each year, is a three hour early dismissal for students. While half days are not always popular with parents- Superintendent Jeff Blank says the half day opener is designed to allow student to get acclimated to a new schedule and teachers and better plan for the first full day…
