First Fifty Days with New Board Marred by Fighting, Accusations

February 21st, 2019 by WCBC Radio

It has been anything but a smooth first 50 days in office for the new Allegany County Board of Education- a month and a half  that has featured  public squabbles, split votes, an effort to remove one board member and a series of back and forth accusations. None of this has been lost on the public with a number of constituents voicing concern this week about the board’s conduct in office to date. Betsey Hurwitz-Schwab was among those addressing the board during this week’s meeting as she questioned the motives and priorities of board members Farrell, Bohn and Foote…

One man said that everyone suffers as a result of the bickering and disputes that have become common place for what is clearly a divided school board…

Perhaps the most damning accusations came from a woman who blasted Board President Robert Farrell for downplaying the accusations of sexual harassment against Wayne Foote. The woman, who said she had been a victim of rape, said that as a former law enforcement officer- Farrell should be aware that incidents of sexual assault and rape are among the least reported crimes. She said his description of the charges against Foote as “suspect” and “overblown” is offensive to any woman who has been a victim. That same woman also accused Farrell, who has a current lawsuit against superintendent  David Cox  for wrongful termination, of having an agenda to see him replaced…

the three stooge s think they can control everyhing,,they all want to play bigshot ,but they have their priority s for themselves s,not for the voter s that put them there to start with, myself, I would like to see mr,cox step up to plate like a real superintendent and get rid of all three of them! I think he would have a lot of public support

Why are unqualified people placed in office. The very people that vote these people in turn around to be embarrass by them. We already have a safety coordinator. But it’s not the one they want?
