The city of Cumberland has completed its first year of free curbside recycling and every indication is that the program has been a tremendous success. Burgmeier’s Hauling Inc. of Altoona, Pa., implemented the recycling program last July 1. Raquel Ketterman, environmental specialist for the city, provided an overview during Tuesday’s city council meeting, with year-end statistics showing 144 tons of co-mingled, plastic, metal and glass, and 162 tons for the mixed papers.
