March 2nd, 2017 by WCBC Radio

On Thursday,35 year old Travis Keith Heavner, of Flintstone, was arrested by the Allegany County Sheriff's Office after he surrendered himself to authorities.

WCBC News has confirmed that Heavner had been an independent contractor as a bus operator with the Allegany County Public School System.  Being a contractor, he was not directly employeed by the school system, although he did pass a background check that included a search of criminal records, fingerprinting and a drug screening.  Spokesperson Mia Cross said there would be no official statement from the system since Heavner was not an employee.

A warrant had been issued for Heavner's arrest as the result of a joint investigation by the Maryland State Police, Child Protective Services, and the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) into allegations, first reported to the MSP on 02/27/2017, that Heavner had sexually abused two young girls and had solicited another for nude photos.

The ensuing investigation revealed that Heavner had engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with two girls over a number of years, and had just recently solicited nother other young girl for nude pictures of herself. The girls ranged in age from 10 years of age to 17 years of age.

Heavner has been charged with Sexual Abuse of a Minor/Continuing Course of Conduct, Soliciting Child Porn, and related charges. He was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance, and is being held at the Allegany County Detention Center on $3,000,000.00 bond, pending his next court appearance.

Additional charges are anticipated. The investigation is continuing by C3I.
