Flood Warning Issued For Westernport

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a River Flood
Warning for the following rivers in Maryland...

  Georges Creek at Westernport affecting Allegany County.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Never attempt to drive through a flooded roadway. This is how most
flood deaths result.

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a
* River Flood Warning for
  The Georges Creek at Westernport.
* From late tonight until further notice.
* At 5 PM Thursday the stage was 4.4 feet and steady.
* Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...Rise above flood stage by overnight tonight and crest
  near 8.8 feet by tomorrow morning. The river is then forecast to
  fall below flood stage by late Friday evening.
* Impact...At 9.0 feet, water begins to overflow out of Georges
  Creek into low-lying areas of the city of Westernport.
* Flood history...This crest compares to a previous crest of 8.1 feet
  on Sep 28 2018.
