Flu Season Officially Underway

It’s officially flu season- and Marylanders are already seeing it spread. 11 cases have been confirmed since September 1, a majority of them subtyped as influenza A with a few classified as influenza B, the Maryland Department of Health.  Most of the cases have been Influenza A which can spread from animals to humans. There have also been a few cases of Influenza B which is only contagious among people. This year’s vaccine protects against both. It does, however, take time to become effective. Officials encouraged people 6 months and over to get vaccinated.  Dr Payel Gupta with the American Lung Association tells WCBC News that now is the time to take precaution before the flu season is in full swing…
