The Maryland Food Bank will partner with the Maryland State Police and the Department of Transportation to kick off the third annual statewide Hunger Action Month food drive with a special volunteer event at the food bank’s Baltimore headquarters on Tuesday, September 1.
Executives from the Maryland State Police and the Department of Transportation will spend the morning sorting donated items on the food bank’s conveyor belt to help raise awareness for the month-long collection effort and the need for donations.
Throughout September, which is nationally known as Hunger Action Month, Marylanders will have the opportunity to donate nonperishable items at state police barracks and select Department of Transportation offices listed on www.mdfoodbank.org/hunger-action-food-drive. Additionally, individuals who can’t make it out to these locations can use the food bank’s virtual food drive platform at https://fooddrive.mdfoodbank.org to donate food online.
The event also marks the beginning of a month of activities designed to bring attention to hunger in Maryland while inspiring unified activism. The centerpiece of Hunger Action Month is the food bank’s Be a Voice Campaign, an interactive, online multimedia collaboration urging Marylanders to use their
voices to share stories, volunteer, and donate food and funds, all in an effort to help end hunger.
