Footer Dye Works Project Remains In Limbo

March 12th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

Just over a month remains before the Maryland General Assembly gavels the 2015 session to a close- and with time running out, there is still no firm indication that state capital dollars for the proposed Footer Dye Works project will be available. There has been no shortage of mixed messages however sent during the first two plus months of the session. Speaking with WCBC News at the PACE Breakfast in Annapolis in late January, Governor Larry Hogan said the capital budget had not yet been completed- however two hours later the capital budget was released with no funding earmarked for the Footer building. In February on WCBC Hogan said there is no money available for any new capital projects anywhere in the state.  Days later his budget secretary, David Brinkley suggested that there is some flexibility within the capital budget and nothing had been finalized. A meeting between the local delegation and Brinkley two weeks ago ended with the issue still very much in limbo.  In a recent interview with WCBC News, Brinkley reiterated that nothing is finalized, but said that before the state is ready to invest   $1.2 million in the building – it will have to be demonstrated that the project will have a great chance at succeeding…
