Footer Project Funding Close At Hand

The roller coaster of news regarding the possibility of state capital dollars being made available for the Footer Dye Works project swung back to the positive this week with the budget expected to be released as soon as today. The Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority and project developer Michael Joy have been seeking $1.2 million in state capital dollars to go toward critical infrastructure for the aging Footer building, funding that is deemed necessary in order for a nine million dollar commercial development project to move forward.  Indications last week were that it was unlikely those funds would be freed up this year- on Wednesday both Delegate Wendell Beitzel and State Senator George Edwards appeared optimistic that the funds, or at the very least, a portion of the funds will be part of the final  capital budget. Delegate Beitzel told WCBC News late Wednesday that a House Committee has approved half of the funding request, and it’s possible the remaining funds will be part of the senate version of the capital budget…
