Former Airport Authority Chair Highlights Poor State of Affairs at Cumberland Airport

October 20th, 2014 by WCBC Radio

The former longtime chair of the Potomac Highlands Airport Authority is disheartened by the state of affairs at the Greater Cumberland Regional Airport and suggests personal agendas may be diverting the Authority from its actual mission. Jim Stahl served two years as Treasurer of the PHAA before a 12 year stretch as chair.  In a letter to the editor appearing in the Cumberland Times News, Stahl stated that over recent years, for whatever reason, the PHAA has forgotten its roots. It is a bi-state agreement anchored and empowered by federal law and the two states have assumed obligations to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) that can involve and affect much more than just the airport. There have already been two leadership changes with the authority this year, and a myriad of controversy. Stahl says it appears as though not all of the members are on the same page and it might be time for some changes…
