Former Lt. Gov. Townsend’s Daughter, Grandson Missing In Chesapeake Bay

April 3rd, 2020 by WCBC Radio

Former Lt. Gov. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend's daughter and grandson went missing in the Chesapeake Bay on Thursday, Gov. Larry Hogan announced on Friday.  Maeve Fahey Kennedy Townsend, 41, and son, Gideon Joseph Kennedy McKean, are being sought by state and local authorities, with help from the U.S. Coast Guard.

Officials with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources said they received a call Thursday around 4:30 p.m. from a concerned citizen who said he saw two people in a small canoe who appeared to be overtaken by strong winds, drifting south in the Chesapeake Bay near the Columbia Beach community pier in Shady Side. Firefighters confirmed the sighting several miles from the pier. Boats and helicopters launched a search.

At 7 p.m., a kayak and a paddle were recovered east of Rockhold Creek in Deale. At 7:30 p.m., the search was called due to darkness, Anne Arundel County fire officials said.

The Coast Guard described the missing individuals as a 41-year-old woman and her 8-year-old son. The Coast Guard dispatched a helicopter and boat to assist in the search Thursday evening. Coast Guard boats and a plane continued the search Friday morning.

Maryland Natural Resources Police are leading the investigation also with the help of the Queen Anne's County Police Department and Maryland State Police

It would seem that the Governor’s recent directives did not apply to all parts of the state.

      > Are you really suggesting that taking a canoe ride on the Chesapeake Bay is a likely place to spread a virus?
Two people are dead including an eight year old child. And while some incredibly bad judgment caused this disaster, offering condolences would have been the more appropriate thing to do.

        > I’m sure Bob finds nothing wrong with making light of the deaths of a mother & child. After all, they were ‘libtard’ Kennedys that don’t matter, right Bob? Sick f–k
