October 28th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

Former Episcopal Bishop Heather Cook has been sentenced to seven years in prison, after she pleaded guilty to killing Thomas Palermo a cyclist, in a hit and run crash last December. In pleading guilty last month, Cook admitted that she was drunk and texting while behind the wheel when the crash occurred. Under the plea agreement, prosecutors recommended Cook serve half of a 20-year sentence, with the remaining 10 years suspended. Cook was immediately taken into custody after yesterday's sentencing.
