Former MD Lt. Governor Michael Steele Considering Running For Governor

Former Maryland Lt. Governor Michael Steele says he is considering running for governor in Maryland. Steele, who also is a former chairman of the Republican National Committee, confirmed Monday that he is at least was weighing the idea. Steele served as Maryland's lieutenant governor under Republican Gov. Robert Ehrlich from 2003 to 2007. He was chairman of the RNC from 2009 until 2011. He is currently a political analyst for MSNBC. More hopefuls are expected to join the race from both parties and potentially create crowded primaries, which are scheduled for next June.  Republicans in statewide Maryland races face a tough challenge, because Democratic voters outnumber Republicans in the state by a 2-1 margin. Having been part of a successful republican gubernatorial run in 2003 however, Steele says he is confident Marylander’s will support a republican and the parties’ ideals…
