March 10th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

The Washington Post reports that President Obama is expected to nominate former Maryland Labor Licensing and Regulation Secretary Thomas Perez to be the new U.S. Labor Secretary.

The newspaper quotes two sources in the Obama Administration who say the president will announce the nomination on Tuesday.

Perez, who served in Governor Martin O'Malley's cabinet from 2007 until 2009, is now the Assistant U.S. Attorney General for Civil Rights.

Perez refused to comment, when reached by the newspaper.
