Date and Time: 10/1/19 @ 0739hrs
Location: Rt 40 @ Cool Hollow Road, Washington County Maryland.

On 10-1-19 at approximately 0739hrs Troopers and Fire/Medical personnel responded to Rt 40 at Cool Hollow road for a serious motor vehicle collision. The investigation revealed that Vehicle #1 (09 GMC Truck) was traveling westbound on Rt 40 directly behind Vehicle #2 (16 Ford F150). Vehicle 2 slowed to make a left turn onto Cool Hollow Road. The driver of Vehicle 1 was not giving full time and attention while driving and subsequently struck the rear of Vehicle 2 which forced Vehicle 2 into the eastbound lane of Rt 40 where it struck Vehicle 3 head-on. Vehicle 2 and 3 then spun counterclockwise and were then struck by Vehicle 4.
Rt 40 remained closed for approximately 2.5 hours to complete the investigation. A State Police Reconstructionist responded to assist.
