Franchot Believes Leadership Is Putting Too Much Faith In Gaming

Part of the referendum on expanded gambling in Maryland would allow veterans groups to have five instant pull tab gambling machines at their facilities except where those machines already exist in Calvert and Anne Arundel Counties. American Legion’s and other veterans groups have been pushing for the machines at their facilities for year’s now- including a number of requests made to the District One Delegation in Allegany County last year. While most view it as a positive step, Comptroller Peter Franchot- himself a veteran- says its just another step forward in what he believes in the wrong direction to fixing the economy. Franchot says the current legislative leadership is putting too much faith in gaming…
