Franchot Discusses Final Days Of Tax Season

Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot joined WBAL radio this week to discuss the final days of tax season. Franchot said that as of this week his office has processed 2.1 million tax returns with an average of 2.1 business days on getting refunds delivered. Marylanders have received almost $2 billion in tax refunds. Franchot says by far the biggest challenge this year has the growing number of tax fraud cases. He said unfortunately the General Assembly rejected proposed legislation that would have granted his office additional powers in attempting to prosecute those offenders…
