Franchot Dismisses Popular Notion Of “One Maryland”

Far from a traditional politician, Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot has developed a reputation as some what of a maverick during his time as the state’s chief fiscal officer. He has frequently clashed with Governor Martin O’Malley over a wide range of issues- and can never be seen as a rubber stamp bureaucrat as he has represented the voice of opposition many times during Board of Public Works meetings. During a recent stop in Allegany County, Franchot was quick to dismiss the popular notion of “One Maryland”. He said while that initiative works well in theory, its largely nonexistent when it comes to being practiced by state lawmakers…
