During this weeks meeting of the Maryland Board of Public Works, Comptroller Peter Franchot questioned what the state will do with 500 slot machines that Penn National Gaming wants to return from its Hollywood Casino in Cecil County. Under current state law, taxpayers bought the slot machines that are now in use at the three casinos that are open in the state. Under the expanded gambling bill lawmakers approved last week, casino operators will be responsible for purchasing new machines. That bill must be approved by voters in November. The state's slots commission must approve the transfer of the Penn National machines. Franchot believes the operators of the states other casinos, including Rocky Gap, will not want any of the used machines…
