Franchot still leary of gambling operations

Although Maryland’s gaming industry is generating millions and millions of dollars – Comptroller Peter Franchot tells WCBC News that he still views the casino revenue stream as a short burst rather than something that can be sustained.  According to the last number’s available, revenues at the Rocky Gap Casino resort fell off a bit from May to June.  In June, the casino brought in $3,699,504 from both slot machines and table games. In June, casinos throughout the state brought in more than $91 million. The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency said that in a year-to-year comparison, June 2015 casino revenue increased from June 2014 by 26.9 percent. Franchot, who campaigned aggressively against the state referendum that lead to legalized gaming operations in the state, calls it fool hearty to rely on gambling as a reliable source of funding…
