Franchot Visits Area On “Shop Maryland For The Holidays” Tour

Comptroller Peter Franchot toured three Cumberland shops and a Hagerstown tree farm and restaurant on the seventh stop of his Shop Maryland for the Holidays tour. The purpose of his annual statewide tour is to encourage Marylanders to shop locally to support their local shops and small businesses and Maryland’s critical retail sector.   Franchot began his tour at Ristorante Ottaviani, a family-run Italian restaurant owned by Phillip and Adrienne Ottaviani; then stopped by PharmaCare Floral and Gift Shoppe, owned by Jennifer Hare; and finally a visit to MIXX, a women’s fashion store. ..





 

The comptroller actually began his visit to Allegany County with a tour of the AES Warrior Run facility at Mexico Farms. He has been an outspoken supporter of the coal industry and its importance to western Maryland- and said that all too often downstate lawmakers attempt to make it a political issue…
