Frederick Street Bike Lane Rejected By City Council

Cumberland Mayor Brian Grim said this week that it was the opposition to the proposed Frederick Street bike lane that ultimately convinced him to support it. The bike lane was rejected Tuesday night by the city council by a vote of 3-2, with three members supporting a compromise plan of adding “share the road” signage, and not creating a lane for bikers to travel. The mayor, on his Facebook page, said that he fears that this effort on this particular street sets up a dangerous situation for cyclists. He made similar comments during the public meeting….
