Ted Sjurseth, president and founder of the America’s 911 Foundation Inc, has confirmed that the America’s 911 Ride that will bring about 2,000 motorcycles through Cumberland on August 19 – but unlike prior years- there will be no any stopovers in the Cumberland area. In previous years, the riders made brief stopovers at Allegany College of Maryland before continuing their eastbound journey to the Pentagon and ultimately to ground zero in New York City. He says that basically there are too many riders participating this year- marking the tenth anniversary of the terrorist’s attacks- to be accommodated by the college. The Prime Outlets at Hagerstown just off Interstate 70 is the scheduled lunch and fuel stop for riders taking part in the America’s 911 Ride. While there won’t be a stopover, Frostburg resident Mike Wade has asked the Allegany County Commissioners to extend an invitation to all area veterans to line the streets during the ride through. Wade, retired from the Navy, said it’s important for people to know that although its been ten years since the tragic events- the war on terror continues…
