No property damage resulted when items were set ablaze next to a garage in the 100 block of Springdale Street late Friday afternoon, according to the Cumberland Fire Department. The Cumberland Times News reports the fire was discovered by a passerby shortly after 5 p.m., prompting response of city firefighters. Units were on the scene for five minutes. "Unknown persons set fire to combustible materials on the ground near a garage," said a department spokesman. The structure, owned by Phil Crippen, was not damaged. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is asked to contact the State Fire Marshal's Office at 301-766-3888.
