The Cumberland Times News reports that the Frostburg Community Center on South Water Street was damaged Friday morning when a trailer being pulled by a pickup truck became disconnected and struck the building, according to Frostburg City Administrator John Kirby. The driver of the vehicle reportedly drove home to obtain insurance information and then returned to the scene. He was being interviewed by Frostburg Police upon returning to the accident location. Kirby said the building’s front column entrance area was damaged and a rear door was being utilized for access after the building was determined to be safe for use. No operations were affected by the incident, including Friday’s scheduled senior citizens activities. Carl Belt Construction was called to assess and repair the damage. Kirby said repairs would begin immediately. A representative of the Frostburg Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene, according to the Allegany County 911 Emergency Center. The incident occurred as preparations were underway for the Farmers Market that is held each Friday at nearby City Place during the growing season.
