On Saturday 10:56 a.m., a Frostburg City Police officer responded to a West Mechanic Street residence after a complainant called to speak with an officer about a domestic assault. While at the scene, the officer learned that Jordan Geary Bevans, 24, of Frostburg, had kicked the bedroom door of a family member open, exhibited anger, and smothered the victim’s face with a pillow, making it difficult to breathe.

Police made contact with and attempted to arrest Bevans at the scene. Upon being informed that he was under arrest, Bevans pushed the officer away, nearly knocking the officer to the ground. Bevans then fled on foot.

Officers pursued and attempted to arrest Bevans. A brief struggle ensued during which officers were able to overcome and arrest Bevans.

While at the scene, officers learned that Bevans had also assaulted a second family member. The other family member stated that Bevans had pushed the victim against the wall and placed his hands around the victim’s neck. The victim also reported that Bevans threw pictures around and damaged property inside the residence.

Bevans was charged with two (2) counts of second-degree assault, second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest. Bevans was presented to a District Court Commissioner where he was held without bond.
