On Tuesday, 12/16/2014, members of the Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit (C3I) arrested 33 year old Kurt Jason Wilt, of Frostburg, in connection with a burglary at Giuseppe’s Restaurant on Bowery Street in Frostburg which occurred in October of this year. Cash and numerous bottles of liquor were stolen at the time of the crime, which was originally reported to the Frostburg Police.

Wilt was an accomplice of 26 year old Ronald Dewain Smith Jr, also of Frostburg, who was first arrested on 10/29/2014 by the Frostburg Police after he was discovered breaking into Gianni’s Pizza by the owner. A subsequent investigation by C3I Investigators resulted in Smith being charged with 43 different counts of Burglary, Theft, and related charges in connection with burglaries at 4 different private residences and 2 businesses in Frostburg.

Further investigation by C3I developed information that Wilt was with Smith when the burglary at Giuseppe’s occurred. At the time of his arrest, C3I Investigators, with the assistance of the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office and C3I Narcotics Investigators, served a search warrant at Wilt’s residence. Items reported stolen during the burglary at Giuseppe’s were recovered at that time.

Wilt was charged on an arrest warrant with two (2) counts of Burglary and one (1) count of Theft. He was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance, and is currently being held at the Allegany County Detention Center on $45,000.00 bond pending his next court appearance.

            The investigation is continuing.
