The Office of the State’s Attorney for Allegany County, Michael O. Twigg, State’s Attorney, announced on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, that Burdette Ray Thomas, 34 of Frostburg, was convicted of First Degree Burglary. The Honorable W. Timothy Finan, Administrative Judge of the Circuit Court for Allegany County, sentenced Thomas to fifteen (15) years in the Maryland Department of Corrections.
The incident stemmed from a burglary which occurred in Frostburg on August 2, 2016. The owners of the residence returned home from an appointment and found Thomas in the back yard. Investigation revealed that Thomas had entered the home through a basement door and stolen electronic equipment including a laptop computer and cell phone.
The case was investigated by the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office. Assistant State’s Attorney Erich Bean prosecuted the case. Thomas was represented by David Schram of the Public Defender’s Office.
