UPDATED: Frostburg M&T Robbed At Gun Point

On Friday, 08/31/2018, at approximately 9:30 AM, a lone suspect entered the M&T Bank located on New Georges Creek Road, Frostburg, Maryland and approached the counter. The suspect provided a bank teller on duty with a note.  The note indicated that the suspect wanted money from the bank.  The suspect then displayed a handgun.  The bank teller complied with the suspect’s demands and provided the suspect with an undisclosed amount of U.S Currency.  The suspect left the business, and fled the business on foot, heading east.  No one was injured during the robbery.

The Allegany County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene and assistance was provided by members of the Maryland State Police, Frostburg City Police Department, Maryland State Police K-9 Units, C3I Criminal Investigation Unit and Federal Bureau of Investigations.

The suspect was described as a male, wearing light in color work gloves, light colored shirt covered with a dark in color hooded jacket, dark pants and dark mask covering his face.  Suspect was approximately 6’-00” tall and described to be of medium build.  He had the hood of the coat pulled up over his head and the mask covering up the majority of his face to disguise his face.

Video surveillance in the bank was reviewed and photos of the suspect were obtained.

If callers wish to remain anonymous, they can call the Allegany/Mineral County Crime Solvers at 301-722-4300, where callers may be eligible for a reward of up to $1500.00 for information leading to an arrest in this case.

The investigation is continuing by the Allegany County Sheriff’s Department and C3I.

INITIAL REPORT:

The Allegany County Sheriff' Office investigating an armed robbery that occured at the Frostburg M&T Bank branch at about 9:30 a.m. Friday. The suspect was said to be a black male reportedly dressed in all black clothing and wearing a black mask. The suspect left the bank property on foot. As a result, Mountain Ridge High School is currently in a "lock in" situation. Frostburg Police, Maryland State Police and the Allegany County Sheriff's Office responded to the location at Routes 36 and 40.
