Fugitive Arrested

On Friday Cumberland City Police officers were dispatched to a Park Street business in reference to a theft.  Upon arrival to the scene, officers were contacted by loss prevention employees who advised that they had a suspect in custody after observing the suspect allegedly shoplifting merchandise owned by the store.  Officers contacted suspect Brian Michael Lucas, 27, of Cumberland and after an investigation into this incident, Lucas was placed under arrest.  Lucas was transported to Cumberland Police Headquarters for processing.  During processing, officers discovered that Lucas is currently wanted in the state of West Virginia on Larceny related charges.  Cumberland Police officers charged Lucas with the following:

Theft Less than $100.00 – 1 count

Fugitive from Justice

Lucas was issued a criminal citation for the theft charge at the Park Street business.  He was charged on a Fugitive Warrant and transported to the Allegany County District Court for an initial appearance.  Lucas was held without bond on the fugitive charges and subsequently transported to the Allegany County Detention Center to await extradition to West Virginia.
