Having seen state funding decline by $8 million in recent years- and projections for another hit in the coming year, members of the Allegany County Board of Education enter 2012 with grave concerns about the ability to adequately fund the system. A slew of cuts were implemented this year to balance the budget, including the controversial decision to phase out the Washington county option for Little Orleans students.
