Saturday morning at around 11 AM, the Hagerstown Barrack of Maryland State Police responded to a serious collision on Interstate 68 westbound, west of Sandy Mile Road, near mile marker 78 in Washington County, MD.
The investigation on scene, based on evidence and witness statements determined that the motorcyclist, 76 year old Louis Hartley of McHenry, MD was westbound and failed to negotiate the curve west of Sandy Mile Road. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a guardrail. Hartley was pronounced at the scene.
A Maryland State Police Crash Reconstructionist was dispatched to the scene for investigation.
